The most common gauge for 1/4" HC is 22 or 23 which is very thin and can be easily torn by larger predators. Dogs have been known to run right through it.Thank you! I actually got 1/4 inch, so even more protection I hope!
You might save it? I used 1/2 inch over my run but had baby snakes slithering in so I covered my 1/2 with 1/4 inch. No more baby snakes!Dern folks. Thank you already for the knowledge. I just opened the roll of 1/4in hardware cloth. It definitely looks flimsy and is 23gauge. Not gonna do it. I ordered another roll of 1/2in 19 gauge off Amazon. Unfortunately my return window closed on the 1/4in.…..I shall try to sell it locally at a loss. I’m glad I joined here and thank you to the ones who mentioned the wire gauge. Thought I’d done enough research, but I was wrong! Lol
Omg. I just realized that I said that backwards. Higher gauge is less sturdy. My apologies to the op.Hello and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.
