Help! 10week old RR injury

Update: Well she made it through the night, she isn't all too enthusiastic to eat or drink....I held some water up to her beak and she took a few sips, iced her little head as any contact with the eye itself causes shear panic in her for good reason as it's somewhat swollen. She is walking, made some peeping and I can clearly see the eye when it's open...She just wants to rest or so it appears..

Keep her in a warm dim lit room... feed her eggs, vegies, oats, anything she feels like eating...just to make sure she gets food on her tummy. You may have to force feed her water.
Keep vitamins in her water...wash and clean the wound 1 or 2 times a day. Ice it for swelling...you can also give them BABY aspirin if you feel they are in a lot of pain.

And let her get LOTS of rest....

God Bless,
Laura

yes I have to keep introducing her to liquids....as for eating she is not and is in pain, will try to get alittle baby aspirin in her as you recommended

I hope she fully recovers for you! Give her time and keep trying to offer whatever she wants to eat!!! Lots of protein to help heal! Adding vitamins & electrolytes to her water will help. If she has an open wound, clean it well and apply something like neosporin. I have been told to be sure not to use the stuff that has a pain reliever in it also. Yep, the dosage is to dissolve a 325 mg or 1 grain aspirin tablet in 1 gallon of water.
Keep us updated! She might come around soon. They can goo into a shock from an injury so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for both of you!!

Give her 1/2 of a baby aspirin every 4-6 hours as needed for pain....
My little TINY 8 week old bantam rooster (my avie pic) just recovered from a coon attack (which he protected all his girls from)....
Well he refused to eat and drink...you have to let them eat whatever they feel like....set out a spread and see what they like.
Also it you can make a mash with extra water in it...that will also give them some fluids.

I also found out that if you let them sleep and room with their FAVORITE chick...they get better much faster...and it is "monkey see, monkey do".....If the healthy one eats, the sick one eats.

That's right. If they're not eating well, give them anything they want. I usually make them extra squishy french toast.
If you use peroxide, use 1/2 strength. Full strength might burn. Or you can just rinse it with water and put ointment on.
Poor baby!

I would NOT use peroxide.....it has shown to cause break down of healthy skin in chickens !!!!
use normal saline...you can get it at walmart or any drug store cheap !!!

Day 2 her little eye is open and she's out and about and back with her sister....she moving slowly but she's exploring the ground again. We put her in with our new born chicks since the injury and they enjoyed her warmth and she seemed to enjoy their company as there was no stress or pressure from the outside world. The aspirin appeared to work wonders as well as a little neosporin/saline with pain relief under the swollen eye which she appears to still protect and favor.....I also gave her water through a plastic syringe hourly and she seemed to enjoy some cream of mushroom soup that way during her "hospital" stay......will follow this post with picture! Thank you all and bless you all for your advice....and helping "Marz" on her recovery!

We use 1/2 strength peroxide on babies that get open booboos, then rinse, then apply ointment. ( I work in a NICU).
Not on an eye. With an eye, rinse with water or saline, and apply ointment.
