Roughly 6 mo Brahma pullet. I think she is laying based on age but haven’t witnessed it.

Normally a big eater (her name is Chonk). I noticed her standing alone yesterday, not eating and her face appeared pale.

I separated her immediately. She will not eat or drink. Tried blueberries, scrambled eggs, raw yolk. Was able to get a couple drops of nutridrench and electrolyte water in her today but not much. Her abdomen is not swollen, she is able to poop (appears normal, no diahrea, very dark green) and cannot palpate an egg that might be stuck.
No signs of respiratory distress, no nasal discharge. She is lethargic.

Her crop is empty. I’m not sure what it could be? Doesn’t seem to be AI, egg bound, impacted crop. None of the usual suspects. But she is definitely not herself. Not sure what else to do at this point? If anyone has insight would be much appreciated.

I would consider tube feeding her if you cannot get her to eat some watery mash feed. You also could let her go to see if she will eat and drink if she is back with her flock and more comfortable. If she is lethargic, you should be able to get a tube into her. Be sure to check her for lice and mites, and look for any problems walking. Here is some tube feeding info:

Thank you, she has been eating blueberries today, she is scarfing them down, but won’t touch her food. She is mobile, so when I say “lethargic”, I mean she is less active than usual. She does not have lice or mites. Aside from the current symptoms she is very healthy and clean.

We had a sudden weather swing over the weekend, from 80s and sunny to cold, windy and below freezing at night. Im nervous to put her back if she’s not feeling 100%. Also nervous because Avian Influenza, she’s doesn’t appear to have it but Im trying to be overly cautious. But maybe I will try that in a day or two when the weather improves.

Here is what her poop looks like. The yellow tint of the urine seems off to me?

The yellow urates is a sign of liver problems. It can happen with ascites (water belly,) egg yolk peritonitis, cancer, liver disease, and in heart failure. Is her lower belly swollen or enlarged? Is she overweight? I would try to determine if she is laying eggs.

He abdomen is not swollen at all. I’ve had a couple hens with water belly. I am hoping it’s just from dehydration. She is only 6 months old, and has always been very healthy, not over weight. I have not witnessed her laying an egg. I let her out of her crate yesterday and she ran to the coop and ate some food and drank a little. Seemed to be acting normal. I’m hoping it was something minor and she just would drink because she was isolated.
