Help! About to incubate for the 1st time & recevied double the hatching eggs asked for - feeling ov

They can take up t o 24 hours (or more, but usually w/in 24). Mine seem to average 12-18 hours. I've had a few between 8-12 and a couple ealier, but not normally. I've also had them push the 24 mark. (I start assisting at 24.)

Exciting times. Yes it can take some time from pip to zip. Agonizingly long at times but patience is the key. The change that a chick goes through in terms of physiology during the final two days is critical to a successful hatch. If incubating factors have been as close to optimal as possible then I find that most chicks will have hatched by the end of the 21st day.
Relax and enjoy the experience. There is plenty of help here.

Yes just leave the chick in there. He will be good for 24 hours. But he will start to roll the other eggs. If this is a concern for you then you you could quickly remove the chick. Some people remove them quickly and others don't. I do not remove the chicks but I have egg stabilizers in my incubator so the eggs do not roll much.
It can be a bit stressful watching the eggs roll around but they generally are ok. I have always worried about reducing humidity when the lid is lifted but if you are quick things should be OK.
Make sure your brooder is set up. Warm and cozy. Shallow water dish and chick crumbles ready to go.

Congrats!! They can survive on their yolk for up to 3 days but I would transfer them as they dry. Or if quite a few hatch and start bumping the others that haven't hatched around. Just make sure to keep an eye on your humidity. For tonight I would leave them, the chick will be ok :)
