I would make sure also your coop is dry so their little un-fluffy bums do not get frost bite.

Where do you live that is -40?

They have a dry coop. I put a heat lamp on for the last few night. Due to the fact it has been so cold the last three nights. We live in the Adirondacks in ny. This is very cold for us. We get -25 below but not -40 very often.

Geez, its 18 Degrees in my coop and I thought that was cold.

My coop is not very cold I would say above freezing. That is why I put a heat lame in they for a few days. The girl I put in the cage in coop I covered the cage with a light blanket and lots of bedding.
I don't like to be out in it so I worry about them. Thank you.

I guess we are supposed to get -25 with the wind chill...but my birds are in the barn. I may turn on some heat for them tonight...not sure.

I do it when it gets below -25 because with wind chills it can be -30 at times. We are all hoping for spring. I know my girls are. Just to run in the yard on grass.

Ok my girls are doing great. No peeking. Put some toys out for them. Gave them protein. The one I had in house went back out the next day keep her in the dog cage for a day and she want out so have been cleaning her evey day and is doing great. Thank you all for your help. Momof12chickens.
