I have a white silkie i got a couple weeks ago and today i went out to find her lying on her side the other chicks just walking over her i picked her up and brought her inside she isnt moving anything but her head which is moving in wierd ways and kinda shaking sometimes and her wings shake every once in a while to i force fed her a little bit of my baby chicks food and some water and she spit back out she is just laying there moving her head every once in a while and barely breathing please help

Im thinking they did but im not sure since there like 2 months younger than her im really hoping it passes, my other guess was heat exhaustion maybe right now its about 100 during the day im hoping she was drinking water when i wasnt around. shes still alive but freaking me out its like shes out of it and then every once in awhile shell kinda wake up and flap her wings and then its right back to zombie state and shaking the head.

Hi,

I highly doubt the other chickens have attacked her, Not to the point where she cannot walk anyhow. Chickens usually pick on and make sick birds feel unwelcome to the flock, Thats most likely the reason they was walking over her.

I would narrow it down to disease, How was she acting when you first got her? did she act droopy? gasping for air? bad breath? Completely normal? Can you describe the symptoms better please by her head moving strangely do you mean flicking her head about?

Its like she cant hold her head up and when she does it shakes and moves to the side i did a little research and i think she might have wry neck but im not completely sure, and when i got her she was completely fine and healthy

i just picked her up again and noticed shes just skin and bones i make sure there is always food and water for my chicks every day they usually eat and drink by themselves could she have starved herself?

Ah right that narrows it completely down then, If theres no other signs of sickness, and she was fit and healthy when you got her It is most likely what you said. Wry neck is also more common among Silkies and Frizzles I've heard, Im no expert on this as I've never dealt with it, only heard of it among other chicken keepers so I'm not sure if its curable or not.

thank you for the site link im still not sure if thats what she has im also considering marecks but she was vaccinated so i dont know if thats possibe if she does have crookneck/wry neck then it is way worse than the chick on the video that website has she lays on her side and refuses to eat anything or drink water but im happy shes still breathing.
