Sorry guys, that egg never made it. Even if it hatched, it would of died. It's entire face was deformed and it was smaller than my pinky. Thanks though!how did the shell get broken but not the sack ??? ps most will hatch on day 21 ... if they hatch earlier ...your temp too high ...if its later than 21 days ..temp too low ... also on day 18 they should go in to lock down ... do not fiddle with the eggs ... they will dry out and the bay wont be able to get out its shell !! Just had 43 hatch in the last 2 days ....
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/step-by-step-incubation.1212552/The egg that this thread was started for did not make it. Please read forward before making comments and suggestions, repeating and asking for information already given, and making the OP go over it...again and again.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/step-by-step-incubation.1212552/For reference, this is the incubator I have now. I got it from TSC. It isn't as sturdy as yours probably is though.
Before I started using it this last time, it was up on a shelf in our garage and had been for a good 1.5 years.
During these last two weeks (I had pulled the eggs from the broody hens because one of them had accidentally broken an egg and I was worried the same would happen to the others) it has (usually) maintained a steady temperature.
Please forgive the bad photos, the incubator is up in our barn and the lighting is terrible.
