Hello, since week one, now into week four, my
Baby chick has a Large crop. She is very small but her feet and feathers developed right along with other chickens. Giving her olive oil and massaging her crop did not change anything. She always eats and drinks normal. Now what? 🤷‍♀️

Your chick may simply be a little pig. Some chicks love to gobble food until their crops are so full, it looks like they should fall over.

A chick with a crop disorder will behave sickly, be lethargic. If this chick is normal in every other respect, it will probably outgrow this.

Lol ok thanks 😊 but what about the growth? She’s short/tiny compared to others. They all arrived together.

Behavior is the most important factor to consider when you have concern about any chicken. If the growth factor is due to internal defects instead of genetics, your chick would be acting sick. A failure-to-thrive chick is often sleepy, inactive, and most important, has a poor appetite.

If this chick is active and interacts with the others, it may simply be genetically small. That is rather common. I've had a few myself, and the small pullets go on to lay full size eggs or eggs even larger than their larger mates.
