Help!! Barred Rock Gender???????

We got a chicken 3 months ago and it started crowing when it was 1.5 months. And now it crows every day. But we read some articles saying the barred rock will crow to show her dominance especially when there is no rooster. We also get three more hens and they get beat up by her sometimes and one of them bleeding on the beak So what gender is it? When we bought it, we were told it should be a hen. I have attached some photos of it to this post. Please help us!

That’s a rooster. A barred rocks comb and wattles will not get that big. Also the double barring, saddle and hackle feathers. Do you have only three hens total besides this guy?

DEFINITELY a cockerel. It has a male specific feathering plus a giant red comb and wattles way earlier than a hen would get them. Sorry.

Btw hens can absolutely have very large combs and wattles. Here’s my White Leghorn and my Barred Rock hens for proof. BUT!!!! They do NOT get that large or that red that early!!! Nor do they develop male specific feathering lol yours is unfortunately definitely a male. But I was just posting this post in order to refute the statement that females can never have combs that large.

What is the male-specific feathering? Like the white part is wider than the black part on each feather? So that it looks more light color?

The pointy, skinny saddle and hackle feathers. And also the fact that he is whiter than a female would be, yes.

Ah okay that makes sense. But still, this one isnt THAT big, at least not yet. I think my hens were pretty close in size to his. But you’re right that they do get a lot bigger eventually.
