Hi all!
I have 20 chicks with runny poop, blood in their poop, ruffled feathers, pale combs, and some are acting lethargic. At first it was just one, then two, and now more like 10! There are 20 of them in total but not everybody is showing symptoms.

I recently treated my flock for coccidiosis as they were showing signs but I didn’t treat my chicks.

I have Corid, Vet RX, B Complex injectable, goat and human electrolytes, and Poultry NutriDrench. I recently lost two chickens who were in my basement for treatment. (chicks are in basement too, but were separate from the sick chickens)

How much corid should I give? I really think it’s coccidiosis. They have 1 quart water eta, so how much should I give?

Thank you in advance!

Give them Corid right now, 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days. For a quart water, give 1/2 tsp of the liquid. You can also give undiluted Corid 0.1 ml per pound of weight once or twice a day. Do not give B vitamins during treatment, and that should be the only source of water. Make sure they are dinking or give them sips of the liquid often.

Thank you! We just gave everybody a few sips of a ratio of about 3 drops of water per 1 drop of corid. We forced it down the throats of the ones who wouldn’t drink. Two of them were supposed to go to their new homes tomorrow but I will have to cancel since it’s so contagious and they don’t need that stress now. 😰

Let us know how they are getting along. Dip beaks in treated water rather than force feeding.
Thank you! I will try to post regularly, or if anything new occurs. I thought our feed was medicated but now I’m starting to think it isn’t..
Hopefully we can pick up some medicated feed tomorrow. Is the Corid dosage the same whether or now they are on/off medicated feed?

We dipped their beaks in the treated water and gently poured some down the throats of the ones that didn’t drink, but carefully to avoid spilling in their eyes, or choking them. Is this the correct way?
Thank you!

I went down to check on them 20 or so minutes ago and so far they are all still alive!

The ones that looked really bad are seemingly a tad more alert but I’m still not certain they will make it unfortunately. :(
18 of them were huddled together in one big group and the other 2 (2 of the 5 older ones, 5-6 weeks old) were together.

The sicker one of the two that looked really bad passed away. 😥 It was a girl of course..
The 3-4 other girls look a tad worse but seem ok still. Two look really bad. Hoping they get better soon! We gave them more drops of corid directly, in a roughly 1:3 corid:water ratio. We also cleaned out all the chicks’ (there are multiple bins) feed and water containers. We cleaned two of the three brooder boxes by replacing the shavings and using some antibacterial wipes.
The third box only has one chick who isn’t showing any symptoms so we didn’t clean his box but we did clean out food and water dishes and put corid in his/her water.
