My 8 week chicks all of a sudden have very bloody poop! They were completely fine yesterday... I'm assuming coccidiosis since all three of them have the bloody poop but I'm looking for opinions and where can I buy the treatment has anyone got it at Tractor Supply?? Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Before you go running off to tractor supply for Corid, they haven't been eating any red berries have they. That poop looks like it has cherry red translucent gelatinous lumps in it rather than blood red congealed blood...... can you transfer some to a white surface to check.... this is the season for berries... not saying cherries but other smaller berries from a shrub perhaps?

If you are sure it is blood or want to dose them anyway, you will find Corid in the Cattle section of Tractor Supply believe. It comes in powder or liquid. Either will do. 1.5 teaspoons of powder per gallon of water, mixed fresh each day for 5 days or 2 teaspns of liquid corid to a gallon. You can direct dose a couple of drops of the concentrated liquid into their beaks if they are lethargic and looking sick but otherwise just treat their water and make sure they do not have access to any other water and only dry feed, so that they have to drink plenty. After 5 days, you should half or third the dilution of Corid for a further 10-14 days.

Good luck and hope it is just berries and they don't need medication.

Good point about the berries. I'm finding a lot of purple feces now. It looks different than blood. It's never a bad idea to have Corid on hand and it lasts a long time. I bought a bottle several years ago and used it once. I checked it recently and it expired a few months ago.

It's sadly not berries since they aren't out free ranging yet, we let them play in a small run, unless someone was hand feeding them berries when I wasn't looking. Thank you for the treatment directions, they aren't very lethargic-looking so I'll be treating their water!

It's defiantly a case of coccidiosis, I added corid to their water yesterday morning, they're drinking and eating but still pooping blood, very pale combs. Poor things look miserable I'm trying to take as best care of them keeping everything clean currently

You might want to give them a small dose of concentrated corid directly into their beak to get treatment kicked off a bit quicker. If you have the liquid Corid, a couple of drops into their beak a couple of times a day as well as the treated water. If you have the powder, 1.5 teaspns dissolved in 2 teaspns of water and give them 2 drops each.

Do you have their food and water raised so that they cannot poop in it and re-infect themselves and get them onto clean dry ground if you can.
