HELP ! brand new peafowl

just got them today, not sure what to expect but it seems there are a couple small ones and the larger ones are meaner to the smaller. how can I sex these guys now so I can get them sold and separated. They are indi pied

It would be a big help if you could post clear photos of them and how old they are.

Not sure how old, asking breeder, saw two displaying like boys today, do girls do that too?

All sexes and ages may fan, from a couple days old to full grown hens and peacocks.

It will be hard/impossible to sex them at four days old. Unlike chicken chicks peachicks can't be vent sexed. You can get them DNA sexed though. Normally when people buy peachicks they just have to hope that they get the gender that they want. If you want to be certain of the sex of the peachicks before you sell them you will have to wait until you can sex them by looking at the feathers. Males will retain the barring on their wing feathers while peahens will start to lose this barring and get solid brown wings, of course since they are pied it would be more like solid brown and white wings.

It's been my experience that the ones that fan *all* the time are boys. Yes, girls fan, but it seems the boys do it so much more.

I had three spalding white peachicks and two of them would bounce around and fly at each other as if play fighting then they would display at each other. I was so sure that both were peacocks and the one that didn't partake in the playing and displaying was a peahen. It turned out to be two peahens and only one peacock.

While on the subject of behaviors and sex, you know that submissive squatting thing hens do for the boys? Has anyone every seen young males do it or is it something that just females do?
