help! broken eggs from post office

She emailed you what forms? Post office forms? Yeah, I wouldn't bother with that because I'd assume the post office is going to agree that she had lousy packaging so it's not their fault and they will deny the claim.

If you paid with Paypal, just file with them. Keep all emails so you can submit that as proof along with the pictures. You have a much better chance of getting your money back from Paypal than USPS, IMO.

I'd file with Paypal and get my money back. If she does send you the USPS forms, you can fill them out and mark them as the insurance money should go to the Seller - that way SHE can try and get HER money back from them (and lose), not you.

she pm'd me on ebay that she filled out the forms and that she would email me the forms for me to fill out. that was this morning and i still haven't received that email. i think i am getting the run around from her. i think i need to file a claim with paypal.

File a claim with PayPal. I have been on ebay since 2002 and they are very good about disputes. Do you have the emails stating she was going to credit your PayPal???? Good luck...

I have made claims through the post office before on fragile items that have broken. If the package has some sort of visible damage on the outside of it then you have a chance. If the outside of the package looks fine and you got damaged goods on the inside, it is the fault of the shipper and you will receive nothing on your claim.

Most egg shippers state in their auctions or wherever they are selling that they are not responsible for damaged eggs, but if you take pictures of the poor packing PayPal will more than likely give you a refund.

This isn't about eggs, but I sent a dish through the mail. When it arrived it was in several pieces. The buyer contacted me to let me know, and I immediately refunded his money per paypal. I think that is only the responsible thing to do. If I were you, I would definately file with paypal and get my money back!

File a dispute with Paypal. You paid for 18 and only got 14; you'll get your money back for that. You didnt get what you paid for.

What a mess all around. I would do as you did and go through PayPal, the PO will do what it can to not help, sad to say.

Best wishes and keep trying, maybe not on Ebay though.

And I know the poster who will be banned from her auctions is just devestated. LOL. What a threat to use, a real moron to think you would ever order from her again!

Hi everyone, I too have ordered eggs off of ebay. Huge mistake. Every egg seller that I came across does not guarantee eggs because it's easy to blame the post office for mishandling the boxes. I've received beautifully packaged eggs wheras not a single one was even feritile (thanks for you all here for the photos and descriptions of fertile vs. non-fertile eggs) and I've received carefully packaged eggs in bubble wrap that haven't hatched.
No refunds given, no claims made, and not a discount on future purchases offered.
It's a gamble I took, and lost. Is there a forum or somewhere to go to find out about these sellers and their hatch rates? Almost all the feedback on ebay had to do with the packaging...not the success rates of the hatches.
Good luck with your claim.

PS: Does anyone know if there is any truth to the claim that bubblewrap will damage the eggs by suffocating them?

I would leave her negative feedback on e-bay. I have been a buyer & seller for 10 years and the last thing I am thinking a serious e-bayer wants is negative feedback. I am very sorry about your eggs. I'd be just as upset as you.
