help! broken eggs from post office

You should have not done anything with the eggs until you showed them to the post master. If you have already unwrapped them then the insurance will probably be void. To me that would make you responsible for receiving the damaged package instead of taking pictures & then surrendering it to the post office. I know that statement is going to get me a lot of comments but it is only fare to the seller also who did put insurance on them. This might be her first package sold or her 100th I don't know but give her a week to work with you & if it doesn't get any better at that time then file the clam. If I were the seller then I would try to make it right for you. I had a package lost in shipment with Fedex & I replaced the package & sent him another item as a gift for the time he had to wait on the item. It was not my fault but I had insured it & even though it took some time to get my money back it was more like selling two of them & only paying 1 eBay & PayPal fee.

Just give it some time before you post Negative feedback or file a clam.

I don't think I will ever get eggs shipped to me now. I have heard so many bad stories about getting them shipped. I am wanting Pendeseneca(sp?) eggs and found some on Ebay, but if I get any I guess I will have to drive and get them!

While there may be more horror stories about shipped eggs than there are good stories.... there ARE some successes. I recently ordered and received 13 turkey eggs. The eggs were individually bubble wrapped, then packed in a sturdy box with foam peanuts and newspaper. Sadly, the postal service bashed in a corner of the box; it really took a beating. Took a chance anyway, incubated the eggs, and hatched 6 lively poults that are now 1 week old. Not a great hatch rate (my first time incubating), but I was thrilled!

And to the OP, I hope you're able to get a refund from eBay or through the insurance claim. I'm sorry that you had such a terrible experience!

I have received eleven shipments of eggs in the mail and have only had one bad experience. The eggs were poorly packaged and probably not fertle. None of the eleven remaining eggs hatched.

Before I bid on eggs I check to see what the seller says about shipping the eggs. If they don't provide a good description of how they will package them then you should probably avoid bidding unless you post them a question about packaging.

Also I inform my mail man that I am expecting eggs and he makes a special effort to protect them when they arrive. I have a good postman.

Don't say that. The eggs I shipped all arrived in very good condition. It all depends on how much the seller cares about the merchandise being shipped. Not everyone is just doing it for the money. Hell, all I ask for is the shipping cost.
