I have 5 chicks, and one of them has pasty butt. I think I laid the prep-h cream on a little thick. Now his down (whats left of it) around the vent looks almost wet or matted from the cream. I noticed another chick pecking at the area so I separated the sick chick from the rest. he has his own 1/3rd of brooder under the lamp with his own water and food supply. But now shes chirpping really loudly like she misses her other mates or somthing. So loud. WHat do I do? Please respond asap. Thank you!

If you think the chick is at risk of being pecked, you can divide your brooder with a piece of hardware cloth to keep it safely separate but within sight of flockmates. Try to also have a cooler spot available so chicks won't get overheated.

Thank you all! I ended up putting her back with her friends about 5 minutes later. I couldn't bare the sad sound of her chirpping for them. She instantly quited down. I'll be more careful with not getting the vasaline on her down so this wont be an issue.
