Help.. can not get humidity down.. (new at this)

Hangin Wit My Peeps - the red plug is already out and has been since I started the bator. And no Knowone is at home to help me. That is why I was really worried as I will not be home until 6pm. I am 45 min. from home at work. So can not even do a round trip at lunch as I only have an hour.

ok I think I understand now. The sponge is to increase humidity!
covering up the resevior is what you do to bring it down!! got it..

I just wanted to let you know that the Good Lord must have been watching over my bator yesterday while I was at work. I went home to have it at 100.8 and 43% humidity. I removed the sponge that you told me to remove. filled up the 1 resovior. I put aluminum fold over most of it.
It stayed at 43% so I kept folding it back to bring it up to 45-50% but she wants to stay at 43% so be it. Thanks for all your help. Cj

Genesis Hovabator 1588 - - Mid-South, with varying outside temps and humidity. . .

I put sponges in three of the four channels, in the large "holding" area. (I slice them in half sideways with a sharp knife to make them thinner). On the first 18 days I only put water in the FOURTH (sponge-free) channel, and that has worked for 40-45% humidity just fine.

On Day 18 I add water to TWO of the sponge channels, which has been bringing my humidity to 65-68%. I reserve the fourth just in case I need a boost, but I have not so far.

Hope that helps.
