Help change laws.

My small community, 1500, currently denies chickens. I was the first person in 20 years to be cited to court. How do I deal with irrational residents?

where is your community? how many birds do you have ? are you right in town? by the way Welcome to backyard chickens

Lookout Mountain, Georgia. We have almost an acre and 16 chickens and a rooster, five dogs and a cat.

to see if any others in your area have any ideas too.

I'm in the same situation in Princeton, NJ. 1 acre and neighbors are ok, but when someone in an adjacent area filed a noise complaint they came to look. You need 5 acres to have even one chicken here. I filed for a variance. I have to send letters to everyone within 200 feet of the property line and put a legal notice in the newspaper. Best bet is a call to the zoning/planning department of your township. Our meeting with the board is on December 7.

Good luck!
