Help Chick born with unhealed abdomen GROSS PICS!

He should be fine. I also had one like this hatch last week. Actually it was a lot worse. He is now in the brooder and doing great. Can't even tell! I just left him in the bator overnight, for the full 24 hours.

I have just today had two chicks hatch like this except worse. A third chick hatched normally. One has already died. I cannot see how this could possible be fixed but we will see.

I haven't had one that bad but I have had several that were close and they were all fine. Majority of mine hatch with rough navals. I haven't lost a chick after it managed to hatch and I didn't do anything special for them.

I had one that had the intestines pulled out a good ways. I took beadine on a Q-tip and massaged it back in and then placed a circler band-aid over it. She lived to about a year old, then I lost her, not sure why. We called her Band-e-butt. I'm sure if you keep it separated it should heal up on it's own.

If the Q tip method doesn't work try dowsing the area with baking soda. I don't know exactly why this works but it did for me on several occasions.

I had one Spitz chick yesterday which it was more pronounced than that, it was bigger and I had to put it down. Its rare for me to get chicks like that but it does happen to folks from time to time.
