24 hours after pip and start of zip the chick still hadn't came out of the egg the only zipping it had done was a dime sized hole and it just kept chirping so I picked a few pieces of the shell off to help it a little bit then stuck it back in, even though it kept wiggling like crazy and chirping it couldnt break out so at 34 hours I decided it needed help so I helped some more and it finally busted out of the egg, 1st thing I noticed is that its neck was super cramped and turned weird in the egg 2nd thing was that it looked too big to be in the egg. So i put it in the incubator to fluff up... well it keeps getting stuck on it's back and kicking its little legs around, I set it up right and it just flipped right back over on it's back. Its neck and head look a little swollen. It keeps chirping even though it's out of the egg. I dont know if it's just scared or in pain? This is only my second batch, the first one did great and 3 of the 4 eggs from this batch hatched fine. Oh also during shipping the air cell came unattached. Not sure if that has anything to do with all of this. Any advise? The first picture is of the little blue copper Moran stuck on its back again, the second is the inside of it shell, it has some green goo in it...

Put it in a margarine container in the incubator on a bed of Kleenex and leave it to see if if it finds its feet after absorbing the yolk from its belly. Don't give it anything by mouth.
This can take another 24 hours so be patient.

Thank you do much! I'll give it a try and see what happens

Use a paper towel or hand towel, kleenex may stick to it but good advice. Put it upright in the container. Chicks can go without eat/drink for 3 days, give an Update in the morning. :hugs:fl:hugs

That's what I use is Kleenex and no issues of it sticking to the Chicks or Ducklings..

I didnt have a container small enough to fit in my incubator so I rolled up a small dish towel and made a "nest" once I got it stabilized it calmed down and stopped peeping as much and started sleeping, after a while it climbed out of the little nest and it walking around the incubator, the little baby looks so much better! Not at 100% yet but so much better :yesss:

How's the chick doing today?
Much much much better! I really thought it wasnt going to make it yesterday but he/shes has improved so much. I think the yolk is absorbed now, I just dont know how much longer I should wait until I feed it. I'm not going to put it with the other chicks just yet, I dont want them to pick on it. He/she needs to get stronger before that. Also should I lower the humidity in the incubator? hes not fluffing up very well, or maybe that's just how hes gonna look for a while? Poor little ugly "duckling" :jumpy I'm sure it will be a lot cuter in a few days though lol
