Hey there. So my One year old Jersey Giant looks to have bumble foot. I have soaked it and looked for the "scab" or open wound. I can't find anything. I found what looks like a small fold on her pad.
Has anyone else seen this or know what this is? Her foot looks like a giant pimple about to pop!

Bumblefoot usually includes a black scab and what feels like a hard, dark core. I’ll attach an image of what my hen with bumblefoot looked like.

If there is 100% no lesions, openings, cuts or scabs, then try feeling the foot by applying pressure with your fingers. If it’s hot it could be a sign of infection.

Here’s a thread I think will be helpful for you.

If you have a vet near you that understands how to care for chickens, they might give you antibiotics to help with infection.

Also, how old is she, and how heavy?

There is a small cut on the footpad which maybe where bacteria has entered the foot. I would keep soaking the foot in warm Epsom salts and then I would apply a bandage with Betadine and sugar paste “sugardine” to the foot pad for 2 days. It can be changed at that point for 2 more days. Eventually, you may need to then squeeze the bumbles and try to express pus. Sometimes I have had to lance the part between the toes, but the sugardine paste has good reviews at drawing out the infection.

I'm always scared to Lance because of causing more of an infection. I'm going to try what you suggested for sure though. Thank you!
