Hi everyone. I have 8 Isa brown hens and this morning when I went to feed them one of them had her eye completely swollen shut. I'll add a photo. There doesn't seem to be discharge. But there are a frew trees around their area and I have a feeling it may have walked into a stick. Or could it be worms?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you

This happens to some of my hens from time to time. If you know someone who has recently had cataract surgery and they still have some antibiotic and steroid eye drops laying around, you can use those twice a day on your hen's swollen eye.

Or you can find antibiotic eye ointment at your feed store. It should clear up in just a few days.

Welcome to BYC. Do you see any other symptoms, such as runny nose, sneezing, wheezes or rattles breathing, or eye foam or pus? Eye trauma, eye infection, or a respiratory infection could be a possible problem. MG and coryza can cause bacterial sinus swelling, and other respiratory viruses can be complicated by E.coli and other bacterial secondary infection. A vet could give you the right antibiotic if that is a possibility. Is there a bad odor or thick white to yellow secretions in the eye?
