I purchased 9 bantam Cochin chicks total...7 were roos :/ I've rehomed 3 roos and have 3 left. 1 is a birchen, 1 is silver penciled, and one is a mutt with his top half a yellow golden color and the rest golden over blue. Technically, I can't keep any roos. I'm still looking for more pullets but due to the covid-chicken-craze, I'm coming up empty. So I'm considering keeping a roo or 2 to hatch out my own mixed birds out of my pullets. 1 pullet is birchen, 1 is barred, and 1 is a red mutt of similar background to the mutt roo. I think if I keep the gold/blue mutt, I increase my chances of getting a solid blue or other blue/gold combo pullet. Dad had a calico father as far as I know so that might even add another possibility. Who knows. If I keep the birchen or penciled roos, I'm pretty sure I'll be dealing with either black or muddied up silver patterned birds. Not a bad thing...just not as much opportunity for something unique or colorful. So for all the genetic geniuses out there...which would you recommend I keep on the longest and rehome last? I'll post pics of my 3 roos first...then my 3 pullets...and then pics of the 2 mutt birds' suspected calico father and black crested mutt mother
