I have 4 Four week old chicks in the brooder inside our office, along with 2 Two week old Ducklings. They are getting too big for the brooder (Even though it is pretty big) and want to get out! The thing is I also have 10 full grown hens in my coop, so I can't mix them together until they are alomst full grown. SO, I would like to put together a cheap, outside brooder/coop, large enough for 4 chicks and 2 ducklings, and enough room for them when they are full grown. I will attach a run to the coop also. Does anyone have any pictues/ideas that they would like to show me? I would really appreciate it! Thank you:weee

I just used an old playpen that no one would take off my hands, threw an old screen over the top and presto! Nice because the mat could be hosed off (I put a towel down over it and then pine shavings to minimize the mess) and it could be moved into the run for daytime visits. They're easy to find for free on CL.

I am working on this same thing right now. My girls are all around 8wks old and the 2 ducklings are about 4wks old. They have a big brooder but they're getting too big and rowdy for it. I have a lot fo scrap wood here so i got started today with a pallet for the floor framing and then plywood over that to make it solid. I will have to wait until tomorrow to do anymore, hopefully it wont rain again!

Here's what i got done today. The floor was from OLD shelves... the paint might have led in it but i like the way it looks so i might just wash it good and seal it all up.

LOVE it! I would like to try to make something out of recycled materials that I have, but need to wait until my brother gets home to help me! Thank you!
