Help !!! Day 18 egg status

You said it had about 5 days without incubator heat so I would expect it to be a little behind the others. But they are tough little birds and they can surprise you! Just make sure the humidity is 60 to 65 % and see what happens.

actually its two days ahead of the rest. I started on 16th and went till on the 18th. Then started the incubation with the rest on 23rd. Thats why I am concerned that its two days ahead and showing less progress then others. I am not sure. That is why I am confused. What do you think is going on?

I think it's very likely that the day 18 egg started developing on the 16th but did very little growing until the 23rd. It evidently didn't die during the unheated period. And my opinion is that it is very close to hatching. I would not candle it any more for a few days. It needs constant humidity to keep the membrane from becoming too tough for the chick to tear. The egg is very porous at this stage and really shouldn't be handled much. The other eggs are far enough along that you can go into lockdown. I often have eggs that are 1 or 2 days behind the others and they all go into lockdown at the same time.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I am of no help with this but I'm very curious to see how it turns out. I thought once they started and cooled off that they died so now it seems like a good underdog story. The chick that wouldn't give up. Good luck.

100% agree with everything said... Take this posters advice and leave the eggs alone...

Hope all goes well

Curious too how and egg can be kept at heat for 2 days then nothing for 5 days then back to heated and still hatch.

I think because its so early in the development , I have read on here where folks will incubate eggs for a few days and then ship them..
