LOL. It can take over 24 hours from internal pip to external pip and another 24 from external pip to zip and hatch. Good luck.we also have movement....looks like a mini vibrating egg. it vibrates in little spurts,,,it's so cool ! Wonder how long it is going to be now?
It shouldn't effect them.Hi, I am going to ask a question regarding this topic. I have 1 chick that hatched Saturday night.(that was day 20 for us) I set them in incubator Saturday March 28th, so I hope I got the days right. Anyway, the chick is fine now, however it was hatched with quite a bit of blood, and trampled the other eggs and smeared the blood all over them. I realize now that with my homade incubator it had hot spots. There are 3 eggs left in the incubator and still today none have hatched and I don't hear any noise or see any activity. I know I have to be patient and give them more time, however I am worried about the blood clogging the pores on the shells. Is this a problem and if so, can anything be done about it?

Saturday the 18th would start day 21. You set them on a Sat, so yes, Sunday would start day 1 which would bring you back to Sat for day 21. Basically it's 3 weeks on the same day that you set that you hatch. So if you set on a Sat, you expect hatch on Sat three weeks later.I took the chick out of incubator that next day after seeing the mess and saw it pecking at styrofoam peices that fell from the holes. I have not opened incubator since. Humidity is steady between 70-80%
I thought day 1 begins 24 hr after you put them in? If that is true then the last Sunday in March would have been day 1. Then yesterday would have been 3 weeks later or day 21.
Am I wrong?
