Help! Day 21 no internal pip!

Thanks I'm hoping that they will hatch too

I want to give you a link for help with humidity. There is no magic number. People have success at different levels of humidity, the trick is finding what's going to work, and I think this link may help. I run my humidity the first 17 days at 30% for my standard eggs and if I can hit close to that w/o water I don't add water. But I keep an eye on my air cells and that lets me know if I need more or less humidity. Here's the link: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
Hopefully you'll still see some hatchers. Keep us posted and :welcome

For me Day 1 to 18 --- 38% to 45% day 18 to hatch is over -- 70% to 72% I have forced air so I keep 99.5 F the whole process. I always worry about something going wrong like none hatching. But so far I have a 83% hatch rate but hoping for better this time a round.

I forgot to add that i got this incubator from my neighbor and both of the plugs for the holes in the top were missing
would that alter the humidity a lot?

Yes it would. It would let moisture out and keep humidity down some what. I never take my red plugs out other that to fill water in the trays as needed according to my humidity reading.

or ok for the amount of water i was putting in?

Hard to say need to be able to monitor humidity from day to day to keep it in the right range. But with out the plugs it may have compensated for your mistake. Your hatch rate will let you know.

I have forced air as well and run 70-75 at hatch. I generally have 85-100% hatch rates, but this silkie hatch I'm on is looking a little lower than I was hoping for.

Would that make my humidity too low

I do not use my plugs at all. They are out from day one. With filling the wells every other day, unless you are in a dessert, dry arid environment, the chances of humidity being too low is very very slim. With my water wells filled, with no plugs, I hit above 60. That's while running a pellet stove in the house.
The plugs need to be open for hatch, wether you use them for incubation or not. Even then, at least one plug needs to be out during incubation for air exchange. Having both plugs in the entire time can cause the co2 levels to be too high.

All you have to do is candle the eggs and look at the air cells. They will tell you (as an average) whether there's been too much, not enough or the right amount of humidity. But I highly recommend getting a hygrometer to have a guide.

Ok thanks! I will keep you posted, if this hatch doesn't turn out great I will try to hatch more ;)
