Oh and 1 crisis averted. The 2nf baby born had a piece of shell or membrane stuck to its "back" I figured I would get to it later. Well I need fuzzy time after the eggtopsy so I went in (roughly 24 hours after birth) to clean it off. As soon as I started to wet it... poop everywhere!

That's great! Have you raised chicks before,or are these a first? I'm only asking to avoid tell you the basics you probably already know if you've done it before...

Nope I had a broody hen i quit fighting and she hatched 2 but I've only delt with 4 month olds and up.

Ok, then pasty butt is something to keep an eye out for. You handle it just like you did the other. Just use warm water and soft paper towel. Be sure to dry gently, damp is ok, and put under it's lamp or heat source.
Dip beaks in water and food, just a quick one. And for now that's about all I can think of. But ask questions if you have any....

My tragic mistake was inter-fearing with the process. The pathetic end results of my last incubation hatch was 2.5%. "Lazy Gardener" mentioned @Sally Sunshine's Assisted Hatch article. I read it and learned a lot, (Thank you Sally Sunshine). It is my experience that minimum hands on is the best policy.
