Sweet Nelson made it through the night! I'm so happy!

His leg still seems to be bothering him, but he's eating and drinking now (standing on one leg).

The dog attacked again early this morning and got one of my pullets. Poor Sally didn't have a chance.

yep un lucky for you, now the dog will be after your chickens all the time. one taste is all it takes. i have a dog that kills everyone he can get! i have been trying to find him anew home but no luck yet. i have also had people tell me try a shock collar to try and break him. i mean i cant blame the dogs for liking chicken but we like them for more than just eating and its no good for us if they keep killing them!! my dog is a lab mix

I am sorry for your Loss. You may need to consider re-homeing the dog. Once they get started on chickens it is next to impossible to correct the behavior.

You HAVE to be kidding me. How was it this dog was allowed anywhere near the birds after the last attack? This is so incredibly cruel to the birds. They are not safe there. Please put a stop to this before anyone else gets hurt or killed.

We are DEFINITELY getting rid of the dog! A.S.A.P!

I had her locked up on our deck to keep her away from the chickens, but apparently she hopped the fence.

She is now on the deck, CHAINED UP until we figure out what to do with her, and the chickens are inside their coop.

I know, I just can't believe it! I feel like the worst chicken mama in the world right now. I can't believe I let it happen twice!

P.S. Nelson is doing a lot better! He's still favoring his left foot, but he IS walking on it and today he even jumped up and roosted on that foot.

Poor girl! And poor YOU! I know how it feels. I had a dog attack just last fall and lost four of my hens. One was POL! I was SO mad! The other three were just young ones about your sally's age
