HELP! Drake injured from fighting. =(

Today my boy's right eye looks more clear, no foam discharge. It is still watering though. His left side looks absolutely aweful to me. His eye is almost swollen shut and there is a milky white discharge coming out. I continued using the vetericyn eye wash, and I applyed some Neosporin to the abrasions, except for close to/around the eye.
I saw him with his flock today, but the other half of the day, he spent in the duck house by himself. I havn't seen him eat at all yet. Every time I offer him his favorite treats (worms, slugs, peas), he has no interest. I have seen him take multiple small drinks from the pool when he was in it, but I havn't noticed him at the waterer itself. I have also seen him drooling a few of times in the past 48hrs.
Everyone keeps saying that ducks are super hardy and that it's amazing what they can bounce back from. I am praying that's the case with him. I'm SO afraid for him. Him refusing to eat is really starting to worry me.

Any way you can talk with a vet maybe on you use for other pets? He looks like he may need some antibiotics like chickens really says. You also might want to ask about tube feeding him to get him to start eating on his own, seems after a day or 2 of tube feeding they begin to eat on their own. Ducks can bounce back for some really awful injuries but there are exceptions and one maybe he also has internal injuries. So maybe if you can take him in and have him evaluated by a vet.

Keep on using the vetricyn in the eyes.

I wish I could take him to a vet, but my husband won't let me. =(
The whole reason we got ducks was for eggs. A drake was never part of the plan, but we wound up with two, because feed stores don't have them sexed. He wanted to use the drakes for meat, but i wouldn't let him because they were more like pets to me since I put all the time into them. He regards them as nothing more than livestock, and won't let me spend the money on anything that i can't purchase over the counter. It is so heartbreaking =(

Update: I'm still continuing with the Neosporin and Vetericyn eye wash. He still looks very rough. On a positive note, even though he spends much of the day in the duck house, he also tries to spend some time with his girls in the pool. The major accomplishment today though is that I actually got him to eat for the first time in days. He was willing to eat a handful of earthworms when I brought it to his bill. He still rejects everything else I try to feed him, but hopefully it will give him the energy he needs to start to recover. :::Fingers crossed:::

I sure do understand I have never had to take any of mine in to a vet and would meet with the same attitude I am sure, My dh loves our birds but won't pay for vet services so I do my own treating when necessary. And we have had to cull some of our chickens from various things thankfully none of our water fowl. So most of us understand what your saying, Makes it very difficult but I would just keep on with what your doing and you could also try using a syringe and putting very soupy feed into it and putting small amounts at a time in his bill wait till he swallows then do it again. And making sure he drinks so he stays hydrated. What are you putting in his water [vitamins, electrolytes]?
For some reason when I was typing this I didn't see your posting an update.

That is great news which hopefully means he is beginning to feel better.

My roosters fought and one of them hot pecked in the eye when we was given him he was already blind in one eye so he ended up going fully blind as our cat had recently been taken off antibiotics for an injury we gave the rooster a quater of the cat antibiotics a day and kept him quarantined with the rabbits after a couple of weeks he is now fine again and bit still with the rabbits having his own kennel to sleep in and a large grass run , he also wasn't eating so we syringe fed him porige

Also mixed with Greek yogourt because its good for them

He was only willing to eat a very small amount of earthworm this morning. I offered him some more this afternoon, but he rejected it. Hopefully it will look appetizing enough to him that he egg eats tomorrow. I think he might be spending a lot of time I'm the duck house to avoid the sunlight. I would imagine it hurts his eyes. I'm pretty sure he is blind in his left eye.
I put a powder with vitamins and electrolytes in their water dispenser, but I haven't actually seen him use it. Every time I see him drinking, it's from the kiddie pool.
