'Bird 'n the Fluffy Butts coop in Ohio
12 week old Polish named Daquiri. Got her at 8 weeks. Was pale and small then. she has started walking on her hind quarters a little instead on on her full legs and feet.. Acting like she is drunk. Her head is kinda sideways like twisted twords the back. It almost looks like one side of her is not working correctly. Really wobely (sp?) I started her on Poly vi sol for vitamin b defic. and wry neck. That was two days ago. I am hoping its not Mereks. This has been going on for 6 days now and it does not seem to be getting any worse. Good sign?

Can Cocci make them so weak that this happens?

Any help or ideas would be of great need.

Have you checked her for wounds and swelling? I had a 11 week old chick with similar issues, was on her hocks a lot eating and I thought cocci. And she was wobbly on her feet. That night I pulled her out of the coop and checked her and found she had some sort of wound on the back of her neck that had healed, but she had a massive infection from it. I got some penicillin in her (two shots 3 days apart) and she recovered perfectly.

i have checked he over pretty good. upside and down. I dont see anything topical. She is the 'runt' of the bunch and i was hoping it was something as simple as an injury. If it was Markes wouldnt it have gotten worse by now?

No swelling anywhere as well. Her tail looks like 'wry tail' if that is such a thing as well.

I got better results by adding crushed vitamin B complex tablets in the feed and putting one drop a day of the vitamin in the beak. Not sure if this is what is wrong with yours or not but it helped mine. Mine were polish too. They seem more succeptible to issues than other chicks.

I hope she gets well for you.

Oh me too. Such a doll. We still are not sure if it's a she or he yet. I gotta take a photo and have you guys look at her. I am wondering if she will always be wobely at this point. It should have gotten worse by now if it was cocci.

Still wobely after a week on Corrid. She is so skinny. She is still sitting on her haunces a lot and seems dizzy when she bends over to eat. I am noticing that she is eating more and now picks at grass, but not really for treats and such. Could she just be mentally 'off'? Still no infections that i can see, nothing seems to hurt. I have wormed her and treated for mites even though I have not physically seen any. I have seen some shed lining in her poop.

I am still at a loss. Not sure what I am dealing with or how to treat!
