This is Patty. Checking my records, she and one other bird, a wyandotte, are the only survivors of the 12 I got at TS 22 wks. ago. As you can see she's not quite right. Small and feathering isn't good either. If you blow the pic up and look you will see that her eye doesn't look right either. It may be that the occular part is going to start in now. Oh joy! For right now she is happy and is able to run with the other chickens. Later on? Who knows.
The wyandotte seem perfectly normal so maybe she's one that is immune to the Marek's. She's laying and as soon as my new incubator gets here I will be gathering her eggs and others to see what I can come up with. Patty? I don't believe she'll ever lay, at least she has shown no signs of it yet.
Building a boy's club is something I plan on getting to before snow fly. I have a few more buildings to get done first but I'll keep pushing. I think I also need to think about a seperate building for the hatches as you have said Leadwolf. I had a room added onto my original chicken house this spring but it is part of that building and I agree, everything needs be seperate and 'clean'.
As for the eggs, Fishnet I have Americaunas, Australorpes, and Golden Comets laying right now. They are from last year and even though exposed to the marek's, didn't die. Maybe because of their age? The young ones that were exposed and are still alive are still not laying except for the wyandotte and 3 hens I hatched this past Feb.. They're mutts as well. If you want eggs I have no problem with that at all. It's funny, I got some really pretty, pretty birds in that Feb. hatch. A white americauna hen and a red and white roo were the best. They're both gone now. Shame because they could hav produced some really nice looking chicks.
You PM me whenever you're ready and I'll find out how to ship eggs. Never done it before, so that in itself will be a learning experience. Hope things settle down for you soon.
