Help! duck egg day 29, no pipping - pic included... getting anxious

I agree with Kiki in that humidity and temperature are key for ducks. It's easier to hatch chicken eggs if you want to give that a go first. You can do a dry incubation up until the last 3 days and just add water/sponges then. For ducks they need a bit of humidity throughout and then high humidity the last 3 days to soften the shell and membranes so they can break through. I've done just 3 duck hatches. First time I did too low humidity and only got one to hatch. Second time I did too high humidity and all drowned without even internally pipping. Third time I almost got it, but still only 3 hatched and I did help them because I didn't want more to die. The other died along the way or didn't internally pip. If they don't internally pip, there's no helping them. I have a sucky styrofoam incubator. It doesn't hold a steady temp or humidity, which is why I've had problems. Anyway, hatching is a learning experience. Not always a nice one.

My closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away and I actually ran my meat birds on her front lawn. They love the free eggs and liked the turkey and chickens. I should also say there was a means to my madness. When I finally got to TN permanently, I had been laid off for three months. I did the math and figured it would be cheaper to grow my own then to be grocery store dependent. I grew enough meat to feed a family of six for a year. Figured that was the max time I'd be out of work...
That’s just smart and getting organic meat and eggs

So what are your favorite duck breeds and why? I thought mallards because that green head is sooo pretty but also the ones I feed are very calm and mellow in comparison to the black bellies/ they fight a lot with anyone and anything! Also they sound like squeaky toys, I don’t mind them but. It my favorite.
Mallards fly, that's their only downside. I like my pekins. They are nice birds. Big too. I like khaki campbells too. Those ones are better for eggs and are smaller. I have a strong dislike for muscovy. Muscovy's are good for brooding eggs naturally.

Ducks hatching seems very complicated but I honestly think if I had watched it more intently I could have saved mine. I take full responsibility for my ignorance and wish I could have saved him.i feel better armed now and want to try again but with better equipment.
