Help! Duck in danger of death.

I have a 1 year old pekin drake, who started limping one day. we checked for bumblefoot, but that wasn't it. Now 3 weeks later, his leg and foot are very swollen. his leg is warm, not super hot, and he's still eating. I would love to get him x-rayed and treated, but that costs at LEAST 280$. I can't lose him! please help before it's too late!

Warm is a sign of an infection. As a precaution i would start to give Amoxicillin to the bird asap. You can buy FishMox in the internet, which is Amoxicillin for Fish.
Then you need to figure out where the infection is located and what caused it, so examine the swollen leg very thoroughly for any signs of wounds or scabs, the bacteria must somehow have entered the body. Sadly, if the Infection has reached the bones it is very likely too late…

We've been spraying the foot with poultry wound spray, and we've been contacting this one canadian vet, who will send you vet advice and diagnosis without charge. They said that it could be a slipped tendon, or strain. He is pretty heavy, so I was thinking he may have fallen out of the duck pool. He's quite clumsy.

GOOD NEWS! We found an amazing, sweet veterinarian that told us what to do! Free of charge! We are picking up my duck's injections today that will hopefully cure any infection! We have to administer the injection today, one tomorrow, and one on saturday. If they don't work, she told us it's just a sprain, and needs to be waited out. I have hope that my baby will make it!

That is wonderful and amazing news!!!

I hope it's easily and quickly treated! I would recommend picking up some nutridrench to aid with healing. It's great to have on hand and seems to really help the recovery process of many ailments (it's about 10-15$).

injection #1 was done last night. he wasn't in favor of the needle, but we kept him still. Another one will be given today, and one tomorrow. he's not in much pain, and will still hop around as much as he can. swelling is still up, but that's expected. I'll update you later!

If he's so determined to be active that he's not giving it enough rest to heal, you could consider a few hours a day in a "sling" but that only works for birds either forced into stationary life or ones putting on a show for flockmates who are secretly happy to rest when in private
