Hello Yall,

So i work at a horse barn a few minutes away from my house. I go there daily and One of her ducks is quite ill.

So the owner had 2 ducks (1 male and 1 female) and she hatched 3 duckling's. The one male she had disappeared and so she was left with the female and the 3 duckling's. She didn't think any of those 4 ducklings were males as they were 3 months old and showed no signs of being a male. She went out and got 2 matured male ducks and next thing we know 2 out of the 3 ducklings were males. So she had 4 males and 2 females. I told her multiple that you cant do that but she never did anything about it. Well now the 2 ones she went and got bullied one of the other males severely. when we went to exasperated him he was out of energy and looked rough. We put him in an empty stall with some food and water and he has been there ever since. hes still eating and drinking and i even got him to take a bath today (with some help). So his injury's are pretty bad. On one foot he has a large lump that looks like it was a cut that got infected and swollen and now hes not even walking or laying down on that foot. on the other foot he has a similar situation but its not as badly swollen. Today i went and checked on him and he had a watery yellow drainage from him eyes and his beak look like its starting to peel(?). He also has some sever feather loss from the bulling but no bruising or bleeding. i can get pictures tomorrow if necessary. What should i use to heal his feet and what happened to them? whats wrong with his Beak? why are his eyes draining?

They get fed: https://www.countrymax.com/nutrena-country-feeds-16-layer-crumble-chicken-feed-50-pounds/ and get fresh water daily.

Thank You For Taking Your Time To Read This!

If his foot is swollen he's going to need antibiotics but she also needs to take some responsibility for her flock management and figure out if she's going to seperate/rehome/cull (I personally don't cull!). That's too many drakes for the females even if they weren't fighting one another and sounds like a ticking time bomb. So sorry, it's frustrating when people don't listen to advice.

Maybe she will realize the serious issue that she's causing by having to many males to female ratio. If she wants healthy & happy ducks then in ( my opinion) she needs to rehome a couple of the males.

Yeah. I’ve tried so many times to tell her to separate them or get rid of the 2 bully’s or even get more females but she won’t do any. Even know with this one she still plans on putting him back. Thank for your help though
