HELP! Duckling having seizures?!

Ok, darn. Was hoping it was something simple and not so serious. Good job with the vitamins, hopefully those will help! They really can make a difference sometimes when there are neurological signs starting to show. Good luck with your little one, and keep us updated!
Thanks for your advise anyways, gave him some more vitamins a couple of hours later, I haven't seen him or any of the others have another seizure since, (I know that doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't!) but signs are positive at the moment! He's eating and drinking well!

My buff duckling, Rosie, is about 4 weeks and she is suddenly having seizures as well. I found her flopped on her side not moving with my silkie hen standing over her screaming and trying to figure out what was the matter. I picked her up and ran her inside (at this point assuming she's dead or about to die) and got the hair dryer on her immediately. She got up and seemed to be okay, so I thought maybe she had chilled or something. I ran her a bath and she wasn't washing herself like usual, she just sat there. So I got her out, proceeded to blow dry her and then wrapped her in a towel and held her for a while. About 10 minutes after that she started to convulse. She put her head straight back, her wings up and her legs stretched back. No noise, but extreme convulsing. At this point my mom and I thought it was over, now she's dead. She released a very clear stream of waste. It looked like Purell it was SO CLEAR.

Then after that 15 second episode she sat back up dazed and was ALIVE. Weirdest thing I've ever witnessed. She continued to have seizures after this about every 20 mins and each time I was thinking it would be her last but she's still here. I called TSC and Steinhausers and they recommended the Sav-A-Chick electrolytes which have niacin and many B Vits among others. I've also purchased Probios multi species probiotic dust that I add to her feed. She's currently quarantined and living in a doggie kennel, but I've added the probio to the other's water and food as well just in case.

Since I implemented those two products, I've seen shorter seizures that are father apart, so hopefully I'm helping her and not just extending the time of suffering. If the seizures don't go away, we'll put her down as a last resort, but I'm committed to figuring this thing out. I cannot afford a vet bill right now, so I'm trying what I can and keeping her clean and comfortable. She hates being alone so she is with me a lot.

I know you're going to want to know where I keep her. She and her 3 other ducky friends live in a chicken coop with my two silkie hens. The floor is dirt with leaf litter on the top that I gather from the yard. Every now and then I dump charcoal dust in there from our cooker so the chickens can dust bathe. I feed them the non medicated starter feed I received from the feed store I bought the ducks from. They have constant food and water. I don't know if she ate a weed that isn't good for her, if when she was free ranging she found something bad... idk maybe she is just a special needs duck?? I also noticed a swollen toe and I wonder if she was bit by a spider??? Would that cause seizures? It's on her right foot. I don't know if this is connected to the seizures or what...

I don't know what hatchery she came from either. The feed store I got her and her sisters from was a privately owned one in Alvin, TX and they said they were Pekin ducklings. The rust colored feathers 2 weeks later say otherwise... I have 3 buffs and one MAYBE Pekin, I can't tell. The duck in question seemed fine when I got her and is only suddenly seizing.

I'm going to get some brewers yeast tomorrow but I'm not sure what else I can do for her... my friend works as the manager at a vet clinic and she is giving me advice along the way. I'd love to hear what you all have to say. I really want to help my Rosie!!

If adding some electrolyte/vitamin mix is helping, then it sounds like it could be from a vitamin/nutritional deficiency... get some Nutridrench Poultry Vitamins (Tractor Supply carries them) and give her a few drops straight in the mouth a couple times a day for 3 or 4 days... see if that makes a difference... Nutridrench is concentrated vitamins and doesn't need to be digested to get in her system, it absorbs straight in... give her a drink of fresh water directly after, it's nasty and she won't like the taste... hope that helps...

Also, check for a brown scab spot on the underside of her swollen toe... could be from a thorn or something similar poked it and got infected...

Happy to report that after 4 days in quarantine, little Rosie has seemed to have fully recovered! No more seizures at all. I assume because of the recovery that it must be vitamin deficiencies. Whole flock is on electrolytes, probiotics, and I'm about to buy PLAIN niacin. (My mom picked me up some but to turned out to be flush free so it's going back to the store...)

She's a lot happier with her sisters and chicken roommates, so that's great.

Thanks for the advice @RavynFallen !!! Didn't have to use the nutridrench because she stopped after using electrolytes. But I really appreciate you replying so quickly.

Also the bump on her toe had no scab and it's gone now, sooooooo... I have no idea what that was but it's gone.

Thank you all! I'm new here to the forum and I appreciate the advice I read on here!!
