HELP! Ducks having trouble walking, dying after several days

Paramyxovirus 1 or Newcastle Disease is a highly contagious viral disease affecting poultry of all ages. Affected species include chickens, turkeys, pigeons and ducks. The condition is rarely diagnosed in ducks but is a possible cause of production drops/fertility problems.

Don't mean to be a downer, but would this be a possible disease that is killing them? I'm sorry for your losses, it's hard to loose your friends. :hugs

@AvengerofSquids where are you located. As for New Castle I believe it’s still only in Calif. and Utah. I am so sorry about April I wish we had answers for you. The only way to k ow for sure what is happening to your ducks is to do a necropsy. How is she doing this morning?

Oh, that is possible. Many of the symptoms match. There's no coughing or diahrea but many other symptoms match.

I'm on the west coast. She still has some energy and attitude (hissed at my dog today :D) but trouble walking and holding her head up. Based on the other cases she might not make it throuhg today.

I’m so sorry, have you been aware of New Castle In southern CA?
I had not heard of it before. I'm a hobbyist duck owner who usually has a smaller flock of around 3-6 ducks and I haven't had any trouble with diseases before, mostly just predators. Because of that, I am probably not as up to date on duck diseases as I should be.

I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how helpless you must feel! :hugs

Thank you. I'm going to do what I can to keep April happy while I still have her. She has already had a longer life than she should have considering that she had a life-threatening injury last year and still managed to pull through. If any of my ducks would make it through this disease it's her, but even if she doesn't I still was able to have her for longer than I thought I would.
