She seems pretty beat up. She probably just needs a little time to heal, have you given her electrolytes? That will probably help if she is in shock or anything, or if she's lost blood. Let her rest (in the dark so she doesn't try to lay) and then check on her in an hour or so.
She looks very perky to me. She's a pretty girl!View attachment 1664042 View attachment 1664042 she just pooped... She seem pretty perky... A good sign?
I see, sorry sweetieI was working on it.
what do I need? I have a bit... It might take a while to list.Glad you could give her a soak. From the last picture it looks as if it has been pecked a bit. What kind of first aid items do you have to work with?
Will you be able to keep her in?
I have given her Nutri-drench. She is in my room... I will be checking on her the whole night. She seems pretty beat up. She probably just needs a little time to heal, have you given her electrolytes? she is by far the prettiest EE I have EVER SEEN!She looks very perky to me. She's a pretty girl!
she just pooped.. and no blood with itI see, sorry sweetie
Bleeding from the inside, there is not much that you can do. If I had to guess, she prolapsed, it got pecked and somewhere along the way she was able to retract it. Just a guess though.
Is she lethargic? The wounds on the outside don't look that bad. I would spray her with the veterycin. You can apply a small amount of Hemorrhoid or anti-inflammatory cream on the vent if you have any. That will help reduce swelling.
The biggest concern is if the tissue (inside) was pecked. Do you have any antibiotics? Does your Mom? I would prefer to use Amoxicillin, but if you don't have anything, you can use Penicillin G which is found at Tractor Supply. I would worry about infection to the oviduct. It really depends on if the oviduct was pecked, but I feel that it probably was.
I would keep her inside over night if possible. If she has to go back out, dry her well with a hair dryer and cage her separately from the other chickens.
If she is pooping, that's good, you may see some blood in it, I would expect that from injury.
Get her hydrated really well, then offer her a wet mash of food or some egg. I would also give her some calcium. If you have a TUMS that is fine. Ask Mom is she has Caltrate, if you have that give her 1/2 tablet.
That's great!she just pooped.. and no blood with ithopefully she is recovering! She is actually quite perky considering the circumstances. I have already given egg and food mash and Nutri-drench... She ate with a hearty appetite! She is inside for the night at the least! Do you want a picture of her poop?
