Help! Fighting roosters with injuries! (pics) UPDATE!

I ditto what everyone has posted so far. If he were my roo, I would take warm wet wash clothes and soak all of that blood off of his head. Keep him warm, quiet, give hi protien foods, electrolytes in water and tons of TLC. I have had to doctor two birds that got into bad fights and both came back just fine. One hen that I doctored, is now missing alittle of her left eyelid and ear cover but it sure doesn't slow her down. The roo got beatup just like yours did and he also is fine. Hope that helps. Let us know how he fares.

George is healing quickly!!

When I went out this evening, he was pacing and clucking and crowing. One eye is completly open and the other is partly open now so I know he is not blind.

The EE rooster is also healing nicely, but staying in the hen house hiding out on the roosts.

I decided to let George back with the flock and watch what happens so there is no fighting. It was so funny,

the first thing he did was crow and mount a hen. He then called the girls to him and tried to mount as many as he could. The Barred Rock rooster stayed away from him like he was trying not to be noticed.

After about 10 min. George decided to chase the BR rooster just enough to remind him who was boss. Then the BR rooster chased the EE rooster out of the chicken house and all is back to normal. George has his kingdom back and nobody needs to leave!

I wouldn't bet on it if I was you. but I'm glad to hear George is feeling like his old self again..

My Silkies did that to each other. May I give some advice: CLEAN THE WOUNDS WELL!!!! Antibiotic the germs out of there; I neglected to do a good job cleaning my roo's wounds and he still has an eye infection.

Spring is basically here I would keep them apart for awhile. I have 2 roos that were raised together and a couple of days ago started sort of fighting Lindy chasing Penguin all over trying to get at him even chased him over the fence out of the yard. I have them seperated into 2 coops and runs with girls for each for awhile. I have been told in the spring they will fight, so I am not taking any chances. I am new to having chickens almost a year.

I had three roos in my coop. I knew I was going to process two of them but wanted to giv ethem time to bulk up a little as they were too small. Went in the coop two weeks ago, blood everywhere. The two younger roos were fighting it out. So we processed early. One was very small, but the other had a fair amount of meat on him. Anyway, you can tell Spring is on the way. Our roo we are keeping does the side step to me when I go int he coop, I just put my hand on his back and hold him down to the gorund for a minute or two and he leaves me alone. So be prepared for more fighting. I don't think you've seen the last of it. Springtime is when the bad boys like to see who is the new boss.
