HELP First Egg BLOODY attached to butt?!?

Pics
Put her in the dark for longer each day.
Keep the light off?

I am sorry...I don't know.
I do not think you should withhold feed but maybe you can stop the added calcium?

IMO withholding feed will lead to other problems. Unfortunately egg production doesn't have an off switch. Even in the dark the best you can hope is to slow it down. There isn't an easy fix that I know of. Until the healing process gets going she will need TLC. In some cases they don't recover. The more consistent you are at keeping the prolapse under control the better her chances of a full recovery.
Edit- I would keep her on layer feed minus oyster. Its better for her to maintain a healthy diet while she recovers. Eliminating calcium may lead to other egg production problems.

Most things that I have read say to decrease the protein or the amount slightly to stop laying. That does not mean to withhold feed. If she is only able to have daylight for 8 hours andshe will probably limit her own feeding.

Update: took her to vet on Tuesday. She gave her antibiotic and anti-inflammatory meds.

Have kept her in twilight dark except turning on light for her to eat. Also put her on low protein scratch feed. Also putting a little Preperation H on vent 1-2x/day.

The good news is she did noy lay an egg yesterday or today yet and prolapse is looking much better. The bad news is she has had an egg in there since yesterday morning.

I can probe her vent and the egg is right there, inside seems like a thicker membrane. So...is it normal for them to hold onto an egf for a day or two or has she now become "egg bound"?

Is this something that needs more intervention or just give her time? Got some water based lubricant per vet and apply some to vent each time I examine her, to assist with egg laying.

To be clear, this egg does not seem like is right there ready to be pushed out. It seems like it is right there, but behind a thick membrane. ??? Is it possible--such as when tract has been heavily traumatized--for egg to somehow get outside of the tract into the abdomen or some such?? Trying to figure this out?

If she's still pooping, it isn't egg bound yet. I believe the membrane that you're talking about is the vaginal tract prior to where it meets up with the poop shoot part of the duct works.

Maybe. That would make sense. Is there a corner in the tract, so an egg drops out of ovary and is near vent, then must proceed *away* from vent, go around corner and come back? That would line up with what I am feeling--thick vaginal wall to egg.

So can an egg sit for a while, a couple days, before making it around the corner to the vent? Is that normal?

Thanks! This community has been a ridiculous amount of help through this. That video for the prolapsed egf helped so much in showing how to lay hen on her side and cover head with towel, the whole process. Could not have got her this far without it.

From what I know, right before the egg is released to be laid is where the coloring/protective coating is added. You may be feeling this area. I'm not an expert on their anatomy and going by what I've read. I'm not sure how long the process takes or if they "hold" the egg there until they lay.
