LOL OH OK, I just got so overwhelmed in our conversation. LOL

Yes lets get back to the subject in hand. LOL

Where are more pictures, Lets see those fluffy balls of fun. I bet it gets soo messy in there.. OMG, I just thought of something, wait until they are a week old and she takes them all for there first Swimming lesson. LOL omg,

YOU HAVE TO SEND PICTURES OF THAT..

These were set 6-30:
Hatching experiment. We bought a Janoel 48 to use as a NICU, not as a hatcher, but I had a bunch of *really* old pea eggs and decided to see if I could get some to hatch. Today is day three.

Will go through some posts and let you know which one hatched.

It's starting to come back to me...

Quote: Several of my last eggs to hatch were 15-18 days old when I set them, but some of these are really old, like the one in the upper left, it's from 5-31! I don't expect much from this incubator, but I'd rather put only fresh eggs in the RCOM and under hens.

I don't have a lot of confidence in that, I know the older they get the less likely they are going to hatch but not if they are past the 7 day mark that they would need more time.  HUM, I guess we will know because NOW you've got my interest up and I'm going to experiment on that..  SO we will know that answer... LOL

Right now I'm experimenting on how long a duck egg can tolerate being set on a turner in an upright position.  I have ALWAYS laid my duck eggs down so this is going to be the first on how well they do.  I know they can't make it the entire hatching period because I have tried that on several occasions.  but I am wondering how long before they struggle or end up dying when in this upright position.  I'm hoping they can hold out until four days before hatching day then I will lay them down but until then, crossing fingers they make it that long.. I have a feeling though the larger they get, the more difficulty it is for them and this could be the reason as to why they do better laying down..

Can you elaborate on the duck eggs being in the upright position? I have some shipped duck eggs on day 12 and I still have them upright in an egg carton. The air cells are SO wobbly I am afraid to lay them on their sides.
