Help! first time hatching!

But what they don't tell you is that animal control and a vet were working with the owner to correct the problem. This Monica person allegedly showed up to buy them, but came with reporters and the sheriff instead.

We're also on a busy road, but our horses/ponies are in very good flesh (many are actually way too heavy), yet a month ago we caught someone tossing a bale of alfalfa hay over the fence for them.

Doesn't mean the guy isn't a neglectful owner. The SCPA is working with him to improve the horses' condition, that's great. But he's still guilty in the first place. I don't see the problem in calling him out on it, even if it was done in a rather crass manner.

News reporters are sleazy, lol. What if they're doing an exposé on hoarding and someone called them because hey think you are a hoarder or aren't feeding you animals correctly?

This is what happened a few miles from me. Yes, the horss are thin, not gonna argue that, but wow, how would you feel if this happened to you?

But if it is the total truth shouldnt the horses have gained more weight in those months? I have done the same thing in caring for a skinny neglected horse but within a few months he was almost regular size.....

Next time I speak with the head of animal control I'll ask him for more details. I have purchased thin horses in the past and haven't had issues getting them to a proper weight by worming, dentals and hay. I don't know enough details to know why they weren't gaining weight.

Well, no one said you had to give the name of your farm or your address! Plus for a local paper I really doubt anyone's gonna see it and go "This angers me, I must stalk and harass this woman!"

I don't think they would want to come to my farm when I'm not there, I think my Mastiff will be enough to scare them off. LOL

Why were they feeding them? What did you say to the people yo caught?

They were feeding them because they never see food out when they drive by. We explained that they were being fed plenty, then pointed out to them how obese a few were and told them to go google laminitis/founder. Even my thoroughbred mare is pig fat, lol. Anyone that's ever fed horses knows how difficult that is.

LOL. I dont think I have ever seen a fat thoroughbred! There is this super fat quater horse at the barn I ride at. He looks like someone just put air between his skin and muscle. Like a big bag of jelly. lol.

Going to candle the eggs tonight!!! I think I will post pics, wish me luck!! Do you guys recommend giving bread when sitting on a nest? And I am worried that they are not eating a lot is there a way to make them eat?

No bread. Lol again let her be a mommy. It's very crucial you do not bother her, you are literally going to discourage her. If she has access to food and water she will be fine.

If you want to preoccupy yourself then take an egg from someone else who is laying and not sitting and incubated it yourself. Concentrate on that instead of her. She needs to do her thing.
