Help! first time hatching!

Trying to find an active hatching and incubating thread.
I need help quickly and the hatch in thread j posted in is really quiet. My humidity went down to 40% last night and this morning I opened it to put more water in and take out the bars, and it appears at least 3 duck eggs have already made a little crack with their beak. Will they die? It's only day 25 for them!

No they won't die why would they, they are COMING>>.

Pekin, and I put some chicken eggs in there as well. Humidity is at 60% now. Thanks for the responses, I feel better now

?? did you just start putting chicken eggs in there? or have the chicken eggs been in there? If you just put them in, they need to come out and in another bator. Reason is because Now that you are uping your humidity which you should be because the ducks are basically in Lockdown, that is going to cause those chicken eggs, to be come STICKY.

No, I put the chicken eggs in a week after setting the duck eggs.
Humidity won't get above 62% with vent closed. Can I open it to put in a sponge?

Ok, but 65% is the recommended for all hatching and these are ducks. Also, vent is supposed to be no more than 2/3 closed and I have it fully closed

I prefer about 70, so its totally up to you. You will get many different opinions, so go with what you feel you should. If you want it higher, then yes, you can add a sponge. The instructions say no more than 2/3 closed because they have to have some external oxygen when they start pipping. I would open the vent a little ways before adding the sponge and see what effect it has on humidity. Then decide on the sponge.

How big are the cracks that are already in the eggs?

I opened the vent a little bit. The cracks aren't even see thru. Just little round cracks at this point. If the humidity lowers, is it ok to open t to add a sponge? Would I put it under the egg tray?
