For the welfare of the chicks they MUST be picked up. Unfortunately YOUR name is on that box. The post office did call you. If you don't get them who will? If they ship back to Cackle they WILL die. I am sure Cackle will make it right and I am sure they would understand why you picked them up. It is the right thing to do. Put them in a bathtub and get a bowl for food and a lid from something for water. It will cost you nothing but a little food. Get them sold and you will recoop your money and maybe even more. If I was near you I would go get them and help you. Please, please just get them.

What I would do is pick them up and put some shallow dishes of water into the shipping boxes to get them hydrated.

as far as heat i have 2 bunny cages that i am using for mine.. i know that is too small for the chicks u have but i am using a regular house lamp / a 100 watt bulb in it & some aluminum foil
( no shade tho ) as a reflector to get the heat on them it holds between 85 & 90 so for a short term i think that will work for you
( only because i was not expecting to have a second set of chicks but darn tsc any how for having more babies ... lol )

I'd definitely just pick them up from the post office as others have stated. What breed are they? I'm on the coast of NC and I'd buy them from you if I could. Hubby would probably definitely kill me though, our 100 were supposed to come in this morning or tomorrow morning but so far nothing, I'm just hoping they make it here alright tomorrow. Maybe I could talk hubby into at least taking a few off your hands but I'm not sure.
I'm sure you'd be able to recoup your losses by putting an ad on craigs list and/or on here under the BST section. Don't panic, everything will be fine.

. that person posted a problem and most people agree to get the chicks . thats what i say and thats tough love . that person has a web site with a farm with horses hell keep the darn things in yyer barn or something
