He is very lethargic and incredibly calm compared to the others and how he was yesterday I think he may have fallen off the roost its nighttime here and there's coyotes everywhere! Photos don't show it he looks completely normal but his neck is messed up

I just went out to check my young birds and I have a bantam wyandotte rooster with I think a broken neck! He's lying on the ground and he can't move his neck when I pick him up it just rolls around it can do a 360 degree turn I don't know what to do can I help him or should I put him out of his misery?

It's with a incredibly sad heart I feel he is in to much pain he is now screaming like a baby in the night. I feel that it would be cruel to keep him in his misery. His scream is a constant cry of pain that I can imagine have cut all the feathers around his neck and the put a light to his neck and can see his neck is in 3 pieces. I don't feel it's fair to keep him in pain any longer. As I picked him up one piece of spine cut a hole through his skin and fell to the floor. He then began bleeding uncontrollably through the hole and in seconds was dead in my arms. This is the lesson that no young bird should be roosting as there may be problems. I was picking him up to take him to the vet after hours of phone calls I found a vet that could see him now. Thank you so much for all the help trying to save the now bloody blob of feathers in my hands this now long reply started with me getting ready to put him down then I got a call from a amazing person that told me to bring him to town. Then everything went down hill. I don't think it will be fair to post a photo it is truly horrible

I am sorry you are going through this horrible experience. Praying for you. This definitely brings tears to my eyes as i read this. I can not even imagine & know i myself would not be able to function. Take care.

What a terrible thing to find. How high are your roosting bars?
Is it possible that a predator got a hold of him and crushed his neck?

The rooster was in a completely enclosed playhouse that has a locking for with s lock on top and bottom it had a wooden floor and no other openings the roost is maybe 2 feet at the top bar

It's good that you have a secured coop.
How old was your cockerel? 2' should not be too high.
Maybe he flew into a wall and broke his neck

Maybe he probably a month and has all his feathers if he flew in a wall there's nothing I can do about stupidity in chickens

So sorry to hear of your rooster’s injury and loss. Is the playhouse very small? Could he have flown into something and injured himself?
