Help!!!! Hen Staggering! Acts Drunk! R.I.P

I had a little pullett that was staggering, I found on here about giving poly vi sol and also vitamin B complex crushed up in yogurt. I did this for a week when she finally got better. She is now perfectly fine, just a little smaller than her siblings. Good luck.

I hate to even post this as I hope your silkie girl gets better and that it is nothing. And I don't say this to scare anyone but I had one that never got better from the "drunkedness". Over time she got progressivily worse and when standing still would sometimes fall over. She eventually got so bad that my husband did the only humane thing.

Like I said, I am so sorry to say it because I really hope your girl is ok and it is just the travel/new home stress. It is just that I had a very different experience with mine and wanted you to hear another side.

Now one thing I will add is that we didn't know about all the wonderful treatments that other BYC members are sharing and maybe had we tried them and done so early on we may have had a very different outcome.

So, I wish you the best and a speedy recovery for your silkie.

shes not so bad that she falls over. She acts like she is feeling a little better. So I am gonna keep the treatment up until she isn't staggering any longer. I'll keep everyone posted

Thanks

Thank goodness. You are a good chicken momma to look after her so well. I hate it that some times you know there is something just not right and don't know what to do. The people on BYC are the best at helping.

Thank U. She looks good still this morning. I am gonna let her outside for a bit today to get some sun. To see her walk around.

Someone please help me figure out what is wrong with my hen. She took a turn for the worst last night. I am now feeding her out of an eyedropper. I am giving her babyfood mixed with kyro syrup. She won't eat or drink on her own.Does anyone know of a poultry vet near sterling, oh. 44276

I just got a hold of a vet they want $83 just to walk in the door with my hen that doesn't include getting looked at or treatment. That is highway robbery for such a poor little bird. What do vets think anymore. My gosh. that's a little to richy for my blood. I can't even afford to take my sick hen to the vet. because they charge to much. what is this world coming to. guess I have to find an alternative option on fixing her. Anymore ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am afraid I am gonna loose her.

Are there any other symptoms? How long have you had her? you said she was staggering when you bought her, did you ask the previous owner how long she was doing this for? Sounds like it could be neurological. Depending on how long youve had her, it is possible that she could have consumed something toxic or poisonous. In which case I would not dust anymore because that is considered a pesticide that is toxic in high volume. Not to sound rude here but why would you buy a hen that appeared to be ill in the first place?

She didn't cosume anything toxic. I didn't know she was sick when I bought her. the owner said she was fine. I bought her from an auction. She was in a cage with her mate. You can't never tell till you get them home. Her mate is fine. she staggers and isn't eating on her own now. Doesn't walk around much. She kinda acts chilled sometimes. Oh I forgot to say I have had her since Saturday of Last week.

Sorry, you stated the hen was staggering when you bought her.

If you got her from an auction, truth is you dont know what she had consumed prior to you getting her.

Just saw that she is between 4-6 months old. Have you considered cocci?
What did her poops look like when you first got her and what do they look like now?
How do her eyes look? Are they clear, cloudy, large pupil, small pupil, do they look similar to her mates?
