Yes, I know that. I was just curious if JadeFarms didn't want to keep them because of leg problems, or how messy they are, loudness etc.
I’ve never had a smart pekins, I’ve had 10 pekins and they ran into everything, they were slow, and they were prone to predators.What's your reasoning? Just curious
That's odd. Mine is the smartest of my ducks. She may be slow, but she makes up for it in how loud she is. I'm not sure if mine are more prone to predators, they sleep in a predator proof coop and free range all day without any problems.

Suddenly it got really really noisy outside…
All ducks are back at the house, the 13 nasty ducks went straight into the duck-run and stuffed themselves with the layer-pellets. Apparently there were not enough newts in the pond.
So sadly no fireworks here tonight! But thank you everybody for the great suggestions. I will buy myself an RC-boat! Now the wifie can no longer object: »Honey, it is not a toy, it is a tool to get the ducks out of the pond!«
It wasn't that dark when i first tried to bring them in yesterday, it was just after sunset. They wanted to stay on the pond and they are stubborn b!tches. Tried to lure them with the cat-kibbles container and the result was that the other ducks came running towards the pond…I have a small pond and 2 Muscovy ducks (girls). Yes, it happens that they won't come in, but it is my fault. They do not see well in the dark or semi-dark, so you need to bring them in before sunset. If they can't see they sit still in the middle of the pond. For the times there is an issue, a long handled broom is the answer. My husband wields the broom and makes them come to me, and I scoop them out of the water. (then my spouse and I bicker about whose turn it was to bring them in early enough that we don't have to do this) I have also shone a bright light on myself so that they see me and swim towards me. I have never given up, but it is a small pond and we have lots of wild animals up here ... also, I am a worrier, so no chance I could sleep while they are outside. (and if I don't sleep, neither does my hubby!) I have another trick... when I give them mealworms I shake the glass jar I keep them in, so the sound of the mealworms shaking is a mighty strong lure!

The only way to get them off that pond would be a scary rope or a scarier RC-ship.
