So, basic Spanish rice recipe, but with bacon. Do you brown your peppers 'n onions in the bacon grease ... and do you drain any grease or leave it all in there? Leaving it all in makes it taste better, but sometimes leaves things greasy ... so l ask the silly question...
My grandmother did up her kale in bacon grease ... and it was aMAZing! She also made a killer wilted lettuce dressing with it. "Killer," being the key word. Nowadays, we're not even supposed to eat the good part, let alone use the grease for anything. But hey, I've never been all that good at following cooking instructions. "Creating" is much more fun that simply "cooking."

Brown the onions as the last step with the bacon and rice. I like my peppers not so overcooked so I add them with the tomatoes. Good lean bacon leaves just the right amount of grease to keep with it. Overly fatty bacon needs some of the grease drained off. Browning a smalled chopped up jalapeno with the onions, bacon and rice works well too.

Try frying cabbage in bacon grease. Don't over cook it.

Endive with a hot bacon dressing is awesome.

All this talk of cooking with kale, cabbage, bacon is really hurtin' my stomach right now.... "I wanna -" but, don't have time for cooking like that now. It's leftovers or a samm'ich to tide me over till tonight. (Grrrrrr) I will easily survive but, still (shrugs and sighs).... Hmmm PB&H is fast enough for now and that leftover salad..... *Done*.

I'm so allergic to horses that I break out in hives when I touch them.

Should have seen me after a spring pony party a few years ago. I looked like I just suffered a bad breakup and had been crying and rubbing my eyes for 8 straight hours.

Is she home?

She is still at MILs, only 10 min drive away. The others in the litter have gone to their new homes. We need to figure out where we can have her at the shipping container and I need to confirm if she's had the last of her shots so she can be around my parent's dog. She gets attention, she's not ignored. She's in puppy jail because she's not potty trained yet.

That's because by avoiding the cats, you are acting like one. You don't get up in their space and bother them, so they decide you are worthy of their attention.
