HELP...... I am not sure whats wrong with Gigi, but it doesn't look good I am afraid

I am so glad today is a new and better day!!!

Gigi is doing soooooooo much better this morning. She is walking around and standing constantly. Her tail when she walk goes up like her usual self, but after standing it falls to about half mast. This is not typical for her, but it is a huge improvement from yesterday.

She is still panting but not as much as yesterday. My only concern is she is now doing this action of opening her mouth wide and thrusting her head forward. Don't know what this action means. Do chickens do this on a normal basis and I just don't catch them doing it?

Anyway her feathers are still a little fluffed around her neck, but she is not dropping her wings as if to cool herself like she was yesterday.

I gave her more crumbles this morning and she has been eating off and on. Her poop has improved from yesterday as well. It definitely is solid today.

I am going to keep her in the house today again. She is also vocal today, whereas yesterday she made very limited vocalizations. No cackles.

Wow, she looks like a different chicken! Keep an eye on her breathing, mouth and neck thing, not sure what it means, but it's not normal. Have you dusted her for mites/lice with something other than DE?

Just had a thought... maybe her throat hurts from all of the panting she did yesterday? It'ts just a guess and I don't even know if it's a possibility.

I'm so glad to see that she is doing much better today. I have no idea about the neck stretching but they do this sometimes to get things moving from their crop and if she has just started eating again that may be it. You can help by gently massaging the crop area downward.

I am very happy, thank you Casportpony and Fiddlebanshe for your help. She is resting in her kennel again right now and I truly believe she got trapped under the hen house. We have brick block around the bottom of it because we built it on skids so it could be repositioned around the yard as need be and we found an are where she probably got under it but couldn't figure out to get back out. We put the bricks there also because otherwise the girls would have made it their favorite lay spot.

So I think she became severely dehydrated. I am so glad that she didn't succumb to this.

I am just wondering if I should continue the Amoxicillin? What do you think.

While we're on the subject, did you know that you can get both Keflex and Amoxicillin without a prescription? Just do a google search for Cephalexin or amoxicillin and fish, I was amazed.
