HELP! I caught the chicken-fever!

Very funny. Gave me a good chuckle. Reminded me of my wife being addicted to facebook, of course I am on my way to the BYC addiction. I don't get on BYC near as much as that though. Sorry to say there is no hope. I started my addiction a little over a year ago and have spent over 2k building a duck/chicken mansion and now have 5 pekins, 1 pekin/mallard cross, 2 mallards, 6 moyer chickens, 2 black sex links and 4 barred plymouth rocks and 20 duck eggs in the incubator hatching out today. If i was rich I would just quit work and build chicken coops, put up fencing and hatch chicks and ducks. You are addicted but there could be a lot worse things to be addicted to, enjoy it. It's very fun and rewarding.

I left out few other addictions like flower beds, quilting and my Harley. bgsuohio chicken duck mansion? i am south aways from bg, wapakoneta.we planning on a second chicken cabin 10x20 to add to my collection of coops. cabin #1 x is 12 x8,starter coop #1 4x5 with 15' run and #2 starter is 3x4 with 10' run. I too could stay home if I made equal with my birds and hubby letting me control 60' of barn. lolol

I know where Wapakoneta is, I grew up outside Dayton went to Bowling Green and then moved to Virginia. The cost adds up fast when building a coop and doing fencing. I would like to have another coop.....that's down the road whenever I manage some "free time"

I hear you on the free time bit. Hubby thinks new coop will take 3 bundles of landscape timbers to build it. we have a debate going on the run, he wants to use stainless chicken wire, um heck no!!!I don't trust chicken wire and explained why it is not used by mist ppl, yet he still has it in his head I will buy it. then explained something pushes thru it I lose birds become heartbroken then mad cuz he wanted it oh and not to mention have to replace said lost birds. :) devious but I think he got it finally.

I like the chicken wire. I used it on mine but it has two side walls, a roof and everything has a 4' fence around it so it might be a little different. The chicken wire is easier to work with and getting it to bend and go which way you want.

I use to use it in a patch of veggies I use to grow and tree limbs blowing and hitting it took it out. our lot is heavily wooded and one limb could take out a portion of it. I feel better with idea of welded wire to stand up to trees, coon, coyote and the stray dogs. I have read many peoples experiences with chicken wire on here and yes its cheaper but in the long run no. welded lasts longer and is heck of a lot more sturdy.
