Help! I have a baby chick a with swollen abdomen!

I found that by soaking the crumble in a mason jar over night it completely stopped pasty butt and digestion problems. Before I did it, I was fighting it something terrible. Maybe it would be of help with cross beaked too???

I’m so sorry for responding so late! I sometimes forget to check my messages here (and everywhere…darn ADD).
The baby is doing just fine now and has no issues as far as digestion. I never figured out the cause for him/her being so swollen so I’m afraid I’m no help.
My little “No Name” has crossbeak so now we’re dealing with a whole other issue. There’s never a dull moment with chickens though, right?? Lol
How is your little one doing?

Oh, I’m glad your chick is doing good.
Mine is as well. She eats, drinks, poops. I did separate her from her brood mates because she stopped growing her first week and is so much smaller, I don’t want her getting plowed. I started giving her probiotics and electrolytes in her water and that helped so much. She also had a clicking sound with every breath she took, so I started using a little bit of VetRx. She didn’t like it in her water, so per advice from a very helpful member here I would rub less than a drop on her break or under her wing. After about 4 days I noticed the sound was gone! So maybe her lungs developed more than they were and the VetRx helped prevent infection?
She is still smaller (but has grown, thankfully), has the big belly, poop still gets stuck in her fluff but her vent is clear.
Just strange, I was so worried this girl wasn’t going to make it, but so far she’s doing great. I’m just still stumped about her abdomen.

Not a great picture, but she’s still pretty darn small compared to the others. They’re flying to the top of the tote I use for a brooder. And my girl I named Dotty wants to fly, but she still can’t get her fat little belly up. At least she is trying and isn’t as awkward as she was last week.
I’m sorry your baby has the beak problem. I hope she can still eat fine with it.
I have another chicken, Izzy, who got bit by our parrot when she was a baby and it cracked her top beak. She’s hindered a little bit, but does well and is a ball of attitude.
